Introduce yourself to the people
My name is Timmy Risden. I’m 19 years old and I’m a photographer and a writer for Lyrical Lemonade. I also manage an artist named Young Jasper, aka my little bro.
How was life growing up?
I grew up in a suburb of Chicago called Naperville, blessed to come up in an area like that. Even though it has tons of opportunities, there are creative barriers and barriers to keep kids from growing up into something extraordinary. Breaking that barrier has been hard, it’s still something that I struggle with now and again. I got into rap music because of Lucki, huge shoutout to him. The first rap project I ever liked was Alternative Trap, still one of my favorites to this day. He’ll always be my favorite rapper.
What are your creative talents, for those who don’t know
I primarily tell people I’m a photographer and a writer, those are really my main focuses right now. However, I’m planning on getting very involved with a clothing company this summer (designing, shoots, etc.) as well as getting back into video. My mind is always open to creative direction and those sorts of things, though.
You have an interesting story of how you got into photography. Talk about that
Growing up I was more of the athlete type. When my counselor told me my sophomore year that I have an art credit to fulfill, I wasn’t looking forward to it at all. He eventually convinced me to take Photography 1, I fell in love, and now it’s my everything. I should probably send her a thank you note or something.
You’re a contributor to Lyrical Lemonade. How has that been?
Man, too thankful. I joined back in October and it was one of the best decisions I’ve made. I’ve become a way a harder worker in every aspect of my life. Those are some of the hardest working dudes in the industry and I’m proud to be a part of it. I’m super excited for everything we’ve got in store for everyone that supports the team, we’ve got some stuff for y’all.
Talk about your artist Young Jasper
I’m currently putting all my focus on Young Jasper. He’s got a ton of talent and I can’t wait for the world to see it. He’s got a mixtape coming up called UnoLand. Be sure to be on the lookout for that.
Who are three artists you would love to shoot?
First off, Travis Scott. One of my biggest inspirations. His most recent album is all about the “creative barriers” I was describing earlier on. Secondly, not sure if this counts but Bloody Osiris. If you aren’t sure who that is, look him up, his pictures are crazy. Lastly, Tyler, The Creator. One of the craziest creatives ever, I’d love to take on a look book or something.
When it’s all said and done how would you like to be remembered?
I want to be remembered as someone who did a great job documenting the history that’s happening as we speak.
